As confirmation of your deposit, we will send you an invoice for final payment and additional information including travel information, packing list, medical questionnaire, and an application form for travel and trip cancellation insurance. Upon receipt of final payment, you will receive trip rendezvous information and addresses. Returning walkers receive a 5% discount on most trips, reflected in your final invoice.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Should you find it necessary to cancel, a cancellation fee will apply based on the date we receive written notice:
- Over 60 days prior to departure - $100.
- 60-30 days prior to departure - 50% of tour cost.
- Less than 30 days or failure to show - no refund.
There will be no refunds or credits for unused portions or uncompleted tours for any reason whatsoever.
English Walking Tours reserves the right to cancel any trip prior to departure for any reason whatsoever, including insufficient sign-up. In this case, all money will be refunded immediately. A trip cancelled due to insufficient sign-up normally occurs no less than one month prior to departure. However, English Walking Tours is not responsible for other expenses incurred by the participant as a result of such cancellation.
TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that you purchase short-term travel insurance covering trip cancellation, trip interruption, baggage and accident/life. In the event you find it necessary to cancel either prior or during a trip due to injury, personal or family illness or emergencies, trip cancellation insurance will reimburse non-refundable airfares and non-refundable tour costs. It is possible to purchase travel/trip cancellation insurance policies through any insurance agency or travel agency. We will also send you an application form.
MEDICAL AND HEALTH INSURANCE
You must notify your health insurance company prior to your trip to Britain and ensure that you are covered for medical emergencies while traveling abroad. While taking every care we cannot be responsible for your own illness nor injury during a tour. We will ask you to complete a medical information form to be used in the case of an emergency. It is possible to obtain a short-term travel medical insurance policy.
TRIP COSTS
The Tour costs printed in itineraries are based on current exchange rates. Due to fluctuations in currencies and costs of services, English Walking Tours may be forced to increase rates without prior knowledge. Though we will do everything possible to avoid price increases, in the event we do raise prices, you will be contacted in advance of departure and billed accordingly.
All Tours prices include:
- Accommodation in 4-star stone cottages. Each cottage has a kitchen, living and dining room to relax in at the end of the day, and full bathroom facilities. (see individual itineraries for specific details)
- Breakfasts, in your cottage.
- Dinners in the local pubs and eateries. You will be amazed at the high quality and variety of local, international, and vegetarian menu options.
- Admission to ancestral homes, gardens, castles, and historic properties visited on the tour.
- Van transportation to and from the railway station point of origin to the cottages, and to each day’s walk and dinner.
Not included are: airfare to and from England; rail transportation to the Tour’s point of origin; lunches; beverages; and gratuities. Please contact us if you need help making travel arrangements. RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRIP MEMBERS
Trip members have the responsibility of selecting a trip that is appropriate to his/her abilities and interests. Trip members are responsible for studying and comprehending the conditions implied in the trip itinerary.
DELAYS AND MODIFICATIONS
Although these itineraries have been carefully planned, reasonable changes and substitutions in the itinerary may be made where deemed necessary for the comfort, safety, and well being of the members. Any resulting costs will be the sole responsibility of the participant. On advancement of deposit, the payee therefore agrees to be bound by the above terms and conditions.
EQUIPMENT NEEDS
We will supply a detailed list of equipment needed to make your tour comfortable no matter what the weather conditions are, but the most important piece of equipment is a good pair of walking boots or shoes with tread. Many boots are lightweight and very comfortable but we do ask that you break them in thoroughly before you come. There is nothing worse that blisters on a walking tour. You will also need a waterproof lightweight jacket and pants, and a small backpack to carry maps, waterproofs and your lunch.
We do not limit you on the amount of luggage that you bring but suggest that you don’t need much on your walking tour. Should you extend your trip either before or after the walking tour, we remind you that it is difficult to travel with a large suitcase on the tubes or public transportation.
Don’t forget it is essential to have a current Passport to travel outside the U.S. Please allow 6 weeks minimum to procure one without an additional expedited fee.
